Men’s Volleyball-The team, led by AMCC preseason co-player of the year and mechanical engineer major Dillon Hildebrand, started their season by sweeping a trio of matches on the road against Mount Union on Thursday and against St. Joseph’s Brooklyn and Cairn on Saturday, defeating their opponents by an average of 13.1 points per game.  The men’s volleyball team continues its road-stretch this weekend on Friday at 4 p.m. against Elmira at 4 p.m. and at 6 p.m. against Elms College. The matches will be played at Nazareth University in Rochester, NY. On Saturday, the men face St. John Fisher at 11 a.m.

 

Men’s Basketball-Continuing their stellar season with three wins last week, the men improved their record to 17-2 on the year. On Monday, they defeated Mt. Aloysius 58-51. Last Wednesday, they defeated Hilbert 85-80, extending their undefeated record at home to 9-0. The team cruised to victory this past Saturday, beating Penn State Altoona 80-46. The team is in action two times this week, with a set of home games against La Roche Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Franciscan on Saturday at 4 p.m.

 

Women’s Basketball-The women lost all three of their games this past week while dropping to a record of 6-13 on the season. They lost 48-44 on Monday at Mt. Aloysius, before losing 62-50 at home against Hilbert on Wednesday and 79-63 at Penn State Altoona last Saturday. The women hope to redeem themselves this week with two games at home, as they face La Roche at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Franciscan at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

 

Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving-Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams went undefeated this past week, beating Pitt-Bradford on Monday and Penn State Altoona on Saturday. Both events were held at the Junker Center. The men defeated Pitt-Bradford 101-47 and Penn State Altoona 125-81, while the women defeated Pitt-Bradford 69-21 and Penn State Altoona 128-65. Both teams are in action on the road this Friday and Saturday, facing Malone at 5 p.m. on Friday in Canton, Ohio and St. Vincent at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Latrobe, Pa.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field-The men’s and women’s track and field teams participated in the Spire Midwest Meet at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio this past Saturday. For the women, notable placings included a third-place finish in the Triple Jump and a sixth-place finish in the Pole Vault by nursing major Haley Yenchik, a sixth-place finish by nursing major Myeisha Sanders in the Weight Throw, and a ninth-place finish by biology major Riley Crissman in the 3000 Meter Run. For the men, notable placings a fourth-place finish in the Long Jump and a sixth-place finish in the Pole Vault by Jack Georgetson, and an eighth-place finish by software engineering major Christopher Drozynski in the 3000 Meter Run. This week, both teams will be participating in the Mount Union Wuske Invite at Mount Union on Saturday at 10 a.m.

 

Wrestling-The wrestling team was in action last Sunday in Wilkes Barre, going 1-2 in dual matches. The team defeated Keystone 39-6 and lost to Wilkes 37-9 and Scranton 40-9. Jake Paulson, an engineering major, won all three of his matches, improving his individual record to 18-1 on the year. The team wrestles again at Case Western at 9 a.m. on Saturday.


Women’s Bowling-The women’s bowling team won two-out-of-three matches at Pitt-Bradford last Tuesday, sweeping a best-of-seven baker match and winning a traditional match 768-754. Over the weekend, the team participated in the Red Flash Tournament at St. Francis, finishing 8th out of 8 teams. The team will be participating in the AMCC Round Robin Tournament in Buffalo this Saturday and Sunday, with start times for both days at 10 a.m.
